Fair wear and tear allows for normal use. It does not mean every dent, damaged tyre or missing item will be accepted when a leased vehicle is returned.
Use the leasing company standard
The agreement or leasing company guidance should explain what it accepts. Do not rely on a general assumption about what looks reasonable.
Check high-use areas
Bumpers, load areas, doors, wheels, tyres and interior trim often show the hardest business use. Inspect them early enough to decide whether repairs are worthwhile.
Keep servicing and repair records
A complete record helps demonstrate that the vehicle has been maintained. Missing documentation can become an avoidable problem at return.
Brief drivers
Drivers can help prevent unnecessary damage if they know how vehicles should be loaded, parked and reported when something happens.
