Most fleet arrangements allow vehicles to change during the policy period, but the procedure, timescales and premium adjustments depend on the insurer.
Use the insurer’s change process
Keep records of when you notify additions and removals and any confirmation you receive. This is particularly important where vehicles change frequently.
Expect the premium to move
Adding a higher-value or higher-risk vehicle can increase the premium; removing vehicles can have a different effect depending on the policy terms.
Keep your vehicle list accurate
An out-of-date schedule creates unnecessary uncertainty. Reconcile the insurer’s vehicle record with your internal fleet register regularly.
Compare at renewal if the fleet has changed substantially
A policy arranged for one type of fleet may no longer be the best fit after growth, downsizing or a move into different vehicle types.
